Social Services

Nantucket Cottage Hospital's Social Service Department has a licensed social worker available to help you and your family address any issues that arise during your hospitalization.

We offer confidential, supportive counseling and referrals to help you cope with illness, family concerns, mental health or substance abuse issues and other situations that may affect your recovery.

Our Social Service Department can also assist in addressing financial or insurance matters and can help in enrolling you or a family member in public health insurance (i.e. Mass Health) or other appropriate programs. The staff works collaboratively with all other departments as well as agencies within the Nantucket Community. There is no charge for these services.

A social worker is available Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You may request a visit through your nurse or by contacting the Social Services Department.

Lifeline

Nantucket Cottage Hospital offers easy enrollment and installation, usually within 48 hours, to anyone in the community who would like the security provided by Lifeline Personal Emergency Response System (PERS).

Lifeline is a personal emergency response system used to provide immediate and easy access to medical assistance when needed. For more information about this program, please contact 1-800-635-6156.
